Backgroundinformation
The second week of the march takes us over the Apennines into Tuscany first across the Apulian Alps to the Mediterranean and close to the Arno River. The mountain chain rises steeply from the coastal plain and is famous for its marble. In the past, this border region was often fought over. Recent decades have witnessed the development of the tourism and leisure industries.
